The temporary exhibition entitled “Kraków's Iron Roads” is the first exhibition of the Museum of Kraków to tell the story of how the rail – one of the most important inventions of the 19th century – functioned in the urban space. When becoming acquainted with little known facts from the history of rail transport, we learn that it played a crucial, although not always an immediately visible role in the story of Kraków. The exhibition presents unique documents and souvenirs from the first years of Kraków’s Iron Roads, designs and photographs of objects and rolling stock from different periods of its development, as well as equipment and tools indispensable in the daily work on the railways. Visitors also have the opportunity to learn about the changing ethos and the working culture of railwaymen in different historical periods. The exhibition is accompanied by a varied educational programme, which includes modelling workshops, lectures, guided walks in areas of Kraków known for its railway history and museum lessons.
